John Cena Injured On RAW, Out Of Action For 6-8 Months - Updated!
In an unfortunate turn of events, John Cena suffered a pectoral tendon tear in his right arm in a match against the returning Mr. Kennedy. The injury happened when Cena attempted a hip toss on Kennedy, a normally simple move that went somewhat wrong, forcing Cena's arm to land awkwardly. The WWE Champion, to his credit, did gut it out and finish the match, even taking an RKO to the announce table courtesy of Randy Orton.

Cena had his arm checked following the show and it has since been revealed through WWE.Com that he will indeed need surgery to repair his injuries, forcing him out of action for approximately 6 to 8 months.

Cena, who was scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against Orton at No Mercy, will NOT be wrestling this Sunday. Instead, Cena will regrettably be stripped of his WWE Championship, and a new WWE Champion will be decided this Sunday at No Mercy. Quite a change of events, that is, and an unfortunate one this close to a pay per view. No word on who will be in this match to crown a new Champion, but you'd have to guess that Orton will be part of it.

Update!

WWE.Com are now reporting that John Cena could be out of action from 6 to up to 12 months, meaning that in a worst case scenario we wouldn't see Cena back in action until sometime around September-October of 2008. Then again, you never know how the recuperation from the surgery will go.

In this time of many injuries to superstars, this has got to come as a major blow to WWE, especially seeing as one of their Champions just got wheeled out. Funny, isn't it, that Jim Ross mentioned in his commentary when the Cena vs. Kennedy match transpired that quote unquote "Cena can't afford to get injured", and it actually happens a mere 6 days before a pay per view? I guess that's what you call ironic.
