Hulk Hogan Suffers Knee Injury, Out Of SummerSlam? - Updated!
WWE.Com has posted a news story where Hulk Hogan allegedly phoned Vince McMahon with the bad news that he could have sustained a knee injury, which might prevent him from wrestling at SummerSlam.
While this could be one of WWE's storyline swerves, it seems doubtful.
The article seems legit and with no intent of faking things, it could
have been done a lot better if they intended to. At the time of
writing, I would say this is the real deal.
If Hogan would be unable to compete at SummerSlam, not only would they obviously need to find a replacement opponent for Randy Orton,
but it would also seriously cripple the entire pay per view. Hogan is
the major pull for the show at the moment, and I'm saying it would be
hard to find someone of his calibre to take his place.
Personally, after the disaster that was the injury-laden Great American Bash pay per view, I'm hoping that Hogan somehow will be good to go at SummerSlam. If not, I honestly feel sorry for them.

Earlier today, the WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, received an urgent phone call from Hulk Hogan.

in turn could possibly prevent him from appearing on RAW this Monday
night in Memphis, next week’s RAW in Charlottesville and even
Hogan will have an MRI tonight at a Miami hospital to determine the
extent of the injury which is in his right knee (his good one).

was killing me all the time. I have been on the road with my daughter
Brooke and haven't been able to work out my legs like I should."
added: "Yesterday, I did a couple of leg exercises at a gym. When I got

was despondent that he might not compete against the Legend Killer
Randy Orton. The RAW roster is currently in Australia, and due to the
time difference in Australia, Randy Orton was not available for comment.
Hogan is arguably the greatest WWE Legend of all time, and if his
injury prevents him from competing against Randy Orton at SummerSlam,
there is no doubt he will see him sometime in the future."
It has now been confirmed. Hulk Hogan will not be... missing out on
SummerSlam! WWE.Com has now revealed that the Hulkster WILL wrestle
Randy Orton at the biggest show of the summer, thus more or less
somewhat saving the show.
According to a recent interview on WWE.Com, Hogan is doing it "for his
Hulkamaniacs", thus fighting through the ordeal with his bad knee. Of
course, WWE could also use his knee as an excuse, should Hogan lose to
Orton at SummerSlam.

In an exclusive interview with WWE.com, when asked if he’d be at SummerSlam, a very serious Hulk Hogan said: “F*** yeah.”
Not only did Hogan promise that he
would be present at SummerSlam to collide with his nemesis, Randy
Orton, the Hulkster also said he will be live on RAW this Monday to
prove that Hulkamania is still alive and ready to run wild all over the
Legend Killer on Aug. 20.
“I’m not doing it for me; I’m doing
it for all the Hulkamaniacs,” said an intense Hogan. “I’ve got a bad
knee, and I’ve been really concerned about hurting it more. I’ve got a
lot going on in my family right now…but I realize what’s important to
me and that’s answering the bell once again in my career,” he explained.
As reported by WWE.com last Friday,
the Hulkster suffered a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. As a
result of this painful injury, it was unknown whether or not it would
prevent the WWE Hall of Famer from competing against Orton in less than
two weeks at SummerSlam.
Since learning of the injury, Randy
Orton has claimed that Hogan isn’t really hurt, calling into question
the Hulkster’s integrity. Just this past Monday on RAW, Orton said that
Hogan doesn’t want to meet him at SummerSlam because “he’s afraid his
legend will be killed forever.”
“Randy Orton wants this to be all
about him,” said the Hall of Famer in response to the Legend Killer’s
insolent comments. “I’m ticked off that Orton has disrespected my
family, disrespected the business and disrespected WWE fans – but this
is bigger than that. This is about standing up for what Hulkamania’s
always believed in,” Hogan exclaimed, seemingly Hulking up over the
According to Hogan, he is starting to
regain mobility in his knee but it is still very stiff. The Immortal
One said that his meniscus tear “hurts like hell,” but he’s overcome
injury many times before in his famed career and has prevailed.
“A lot of people don’t know this,” he
explained, “but when I won the WWE Championship at Madison Square
Garden against the Iron Sheik, I blew out my knee during the match.
[That night], I sucked it up and went on to win the title.”
In response to the Legend Killer’s
claims, Hogan will return this Monday when RAW emanates from
Charlottesville, Va. Six days later, he will defend both the honor of
his family and the legacy of his own namesake at SummerSlam.
“I’m going to show up in Boston,
which has always been a hotbed of Hulkamania, brother. [At SummerSlam],
I’m going to walk to the ring with my red and yellow, stand in that
ring, and I’m going to kick Randy Orton’s ass.”"
