"Winnipeg, Mb Premier Championship Wrestling is extremely proud to break the exciting news that two-time former PCW Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega has signed a developmental deal with World Wrestling Entertainment and will be reporting to Deep South Wrestling shortly!

“We as an organization are very proud of Kenny’s development as a professional wrestler,” Shallcross stated. “And I am personally ecstatic that he has been given this tremendous opportunity.”

Omega has long been considered an exceptional young prospect with limitless potential, but the past year in particular has been a whirlwind for the 22 year old. On October 15th 2004, Kenny faced TNA X Division Champion Petey Williams in a great match that began to demonstrate his enormous potential.

Omega then travelled to the United States, working for several promotions along the east coast as he made his way south where he performed for Bill Behrens’ Wildside promotion. At the time, WildSide was evolving into Deep South and Behrens asked Omega to return as soon as possible and stay as long as possible. Omega also attended a TNA Pay per View, spending time backstage while observing the event.

In June 2005, Kenny truly revealed the depth of his talent with an exceptional performance in PCW’s inaugural Premier Cup Tournament. Narrowly defeating young sensation Nate Hardy in the opening round, Kenny engaged in phenomenal contests with former World X Division Champions Chris Sabin and The Amazing Red en route to the tournament championship.

In August, declaring himself the biggest star in North America, Omega interjected himself in matches involving World X Division Champion Christopher Daniels & Mentallo and AWA World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino & Robby Royce. He attacked and battered Daniels and nearly cost Corino his championship. It was clear to everyone involved that Omega was on the verge of becoming a break out star in the industry.

In September, Omega and fellow PCW Superstar Mentallo were two of only three Canadian wrestlers to attend the Pro Wrestling Noah training camp hosted by Harley Race’s World League Wrestling promotion and attended by WWE’s Vice President of Talent Relations Johnny Ace. Ace singled Kenny out of the over 40 workers who attended for praise and spoke with him privately in regards to furthering his career.

As a result, Omega attended a try out with Deep South Wrestling in October where he was evaluated by WWE trainer Bill Demott. In early November, Omega was contacted by Tommy Dreamer with the news that they were offering him a contract.

“I can tell you that it’s been very difficult to keep the news quiet,” Shallcross said. “I have wanted to literally shout it from every rooftop, but the contract needed to be worked out. Now, everything is official and Kenny is the newest member of WWE.”

Shallcross’ excitement is matched by many PCW Superstars who have worked with Omega and watched and helped him develop over the past four years. At PCW’s official promotional launch event on March 2nd 2002, Omega faced Mentallo in a match that would go on to win Match of the Year honours.

Omega’s path would cross with Mentallo many times as well as with Rawskillz, Nate Hardy and “Showtime” Robby Royce among others.

While always a stand-out performer, it was not until a change in PCW management in August 2003 that Omega was truly given the opportunity to shine. In September of that year, he won his first PCW Heavyweight Championship, defeating Adam Knight via pinfall. One week later he forced the former champion Chi Chi Cruz to submit.

He traded the top title with Rawskillz and later won a tag team championship together.

It is believed Omega will be reporting to DSW early in the new year.
