Rob Van Dam was trained in wrestling by The Sheik, the uncle of Sabu. Sabu was often the "sparring partner" of RVD in these training matches, and this is where they developed their mutual respect.

WWE Releases Six Wrestlers, And One Referee
In addition to Ric Flair being contractually let go by the company last earlier this week (even though he's retired, which means he'd be done with the company more or less anyway), WWE has released five additional wrestlers, and one of their referees as well.

The released wrestlers are:
  • Braden Walker - the recently signed former TNA wrestler Chris Harris, who was seen on ECW television this very week.
  • James Curtis, whom Walker defeated on television this very week.
  • Nunzio, formerly ECW's Little Guido. Had been with the company for quite some time, both as part of SmackDown! and the new ECW. More or less used in squash matches.
  • Shannon Moore, used to be Jimmy Wang Yang's tag team partner a few months back. Hadn't been used in a while now.
  • Domino, former tag team partner of Deuce. The team was split up when Deuce was drafted to RAW, where it appears he will get some sort of make-over. Domino was lost in the shuffle, or so it seems.
  • Big Daddy V. Had been off the active list due to a severe case of pneumonia since around WrestleMania, and hadn't been brought back since.
  • Referee Nick Patrick, who was brought into the company back in the "WCW Invasion" angle way back in 2001. Had been out with some sort of back problem I believe.
So, it seems WWE is back in cost cutting-mode once again, and only time will tell if they decide to release any more talent in the coming week.
