WWE To Produce ECW-Only Pay Per View In 2005?
Rumors about a WWE-run return of ECW are still running rampant, and it seems that there might be something more to them during the year of 2005. There is actually a strong possibility that WWE just might produce an ECW-only pay per view, with nothing but former ECW talent.

Apparently, wrestlers like Rob Van Dam are of course very much in favor of such a thing happening, but apparently higher-ups like Jim Ross seem keen on the idea.

Let's just hope that WWE have the foresight that if they should go through with this idea, that they at least bring back some other former ECW talent, if only for one night, to participate at the event.

Should be interesting to see whether or not this idea materializes, and whether or not Paul Heyman will have anything to say about the whole thing. Heyman actually lobbied for a barbed wire match for a future SmackDown! pay per view, so might this end up here instead?

News courtesy of WrestlingObserver.Com:

"At press time, there actually is some internal discussion about an ECW revival PPV for 2005. The idea was reportedly communicated to Vince McMahon via RVD; many, including Jim Ross, liked the idea. However, Stephanie was deadset against the idea. After the DVD sold well, those in favor got some more leverage, and Heyman approached Vince in front of Stephanie to ask about the PPV. Even after that attempt to confront Stephanie about her rejection, she still shows little interest in the idea and it is not known if it will ever materialize."

News courtesy of PWInsider.Com:

"In regard to a number of emails we've received over the past week, the talk going around is that WWE intends to put on an ECW PPV. The plan is definitely on according to those I've spoken to in the company, and the talk is that it will take place on 6/5/05 in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the site of ECW's final two PPV events.

We don't have much else in the way of details right now, but in my opinion, if Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman aren't at the helm of this thing, WWE is starting off on the wrong foot with the concept already. WWE has a chance to do something very special with a brand that fans legitimately miss and want to see, as seen by the ECW DVD sales, and I hope they realize they only have one chance at doing this right."
